When I painted houses for a summer job when I was in college, I loved the way the oil paint covered the surface like liquid silk. When I started to paint art, I was struck by the fact that the same material used to paint houses was used by painters to make something meaningful, expressive and sometimes even profound. It seemed like alchemy to me.
