Barbara Rockhold

I love bright, saturated colors. They make me feel good and I hope they make others who view my paintings feel good. I also love the Southwest and love to paint the people and landscapes from there. My inspirations have been Frida Kahlo, Magritte, Salvador Dali and Georgia O'Keefe.

My grandmother was a well-known local artist in Texas and I painted my first painting with her when I was 6. My education was in psychology and art and I often incorporate the two into my paintings, along with a little humor.

I've been a co-owner of a graphic design business in Richmond, a designer and instructor at Contra Costa College and an ad designer at The Daily Californian newspaper. My art has been in numerous galleries and one of my paintings was selected for the most recent DeYoung Open exhibition.
