May The Group Be With You

Neither rain nor wind could keep old friends and new from showing up at the Point Richmond Gallery on Sunday for the Kenoli Oleari Memorial Banner Walk and Remembrance Reception.

The crowd exceeded expectation, and everyone had favorite memories of Kenoli they wanted to share.

We heard from Kenoli’s pals from the Jelly Roll Press and the Free Bakery, his Black Bear Commune cohort, fellow HAMM radio operators, and colleagues from AOPR.

Many tributes to Kenoli later, Ward and Dee Bell herded the group outside for a comprehensive tour of Point Richmond’s outdoor banner gallery.
After the banner walk, dampened by rain but undeterred, the group reconvened at the gallery and shared more stories and testimonials about Kenoli. Sharon Goods expressed her appreciation to all who attended. She also explained the origin of Kenoli’s sendoff tagline “May the Group Be With You”. It is—of course—a riff on the famous line from Star Wars, “May the Force Be With You”, slightly tailored to fit Kenoli’s abiding passion.
